Birdies for Charity is back! With a guaranteed 5% match, Birdies is the best way to have the greatest impact with your support of MWC.
MWC was among the first arts organizations in the Quad Cities to offer virtual programming after the pandemic started, and as things are opening back up, we continue to develop new programs, engage with new audiences, and educate people about how transformative a simple writing practice can be for everyone, regardless of age and experience.
MWC is committed to helping our community use writing improve their quality of life, or as we like to say, to write more light into your life. Your support makes so much possible:
–David R. Collins Writers’ Conference is the only event of its kind in the Quad Cities, bringing award-winning writers from across the country to connect with the QC writing community
–Young Emerging Writers Programs help students grow their writing abilities while learning job skills creating creative and professional opportunities of hundreds of QC students
–MWC Press publishes great writing from local authors as well from around the Midwest
–Write More Light, our newest program, livestreams interviews with writers and educators, offers writing advice, and gives prompts to help people connect more with their writing and supplement writing education in schools
–Children’s Literature Festival serves hundreds of elementary students in the QC every year, and distributes hundreds of books to school libraries and area service organizations
–SPECTRA Reading Series brings some of the best writers in the country to the QC to share a stage with the brightest writing talent our community has to offer
–Free Community Events, including workshops, open mics, our twice-monthly Writer’s Studio critique group, book releases, and many other literary events we present with our many community partners
YOUR SUPPORT HELPS MAKE ALL THIS & SO MUCH MORE POSSIBLE!
Your gift of $50 supports a local writer being featured at a SPECTRA Reading Series event; $100 provides a scholarship for a student attending our YEW Summer Camp; $200 sponsors a Young Emerging Writers intern for the summer program; and $500 will help underwrite the Collins Writers’ Conference, the only writing conference in the Quad City area.
