MWC Press Policy Statement:

MWC Press is the publishing extension of the Midwest Writing Center and its programs. MWC Press is part of the Midwest Writing Center’s 501(c)(3) non-profit status, and all sales from MWC Press go back into our programs and toward future publishing opportunities. The MWC Press publishes The Atlas, a literary magazine produced by the Young Emerging Writers Summer Internship Program each year; special project books by local and regional authors on a rolling basis, which are usually selected from pitches during the David R. Collins Writers’ Conference; and, starting in 2021, poetry chapbooks as part of the Foster-Stahl Chapbook Series.

MWC Press reserves the right to publish books, chapbooks, etc. at its discretion, or when projects that are beneficial to the MWC’s mission are brought to our attention. We are interested in publishing work that looks out beyond itself, and we seek to create a collaborative relationship with the writers we publish. Our main criteria for everything we publish are that the quality of the writing is high and the purpose/objectives of the project are clear.

MWC Press does not accept unsolicited manuscripts without prior inquiry. If you feel you have a project that would work with our mission and serve our community, please query via email with a brief description of the project, its objectives, and why you think MWC would be a good home for your work. If we are interested based on your query, we will ask for a formal proposal and detailed marketing plan to be submitted for reviewed by the Program and Publicity Committee; the committee will then make a recommendation to the MWC Board of Directors regarding publication.

Please contact Ryan Collins at MWC with any other questions. Thank you for your interest in MWC Press.
