Great River Writer’s Retreat Winner Keith Lesmeister to give reading at Midwest Writing Center Sept. 10

headshot_KLemeisterMidwest Writing Center would like to invite the public to enjoy a free reading by its Great River Writer’s Retreat contest winner, fiction writer Keith Lesmeister, on Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m.

 

The Great River Writers Retreat winner is selected from an applicant pool of writers from Iowa and Illinois across multiple genres, and allows the winner to spend a week working on a specific writing project they have underway.

 

Keith will be spending a week (September 6-12) concentrating on his writing at Benet House in Rock Island, Illinois. He will celebrate his experience in the area and share some of the writing he worked on during the retreat at the reading, which will take place at Midwest Writing Center on the third floor of Bucktown Center for the Arts, 225 E. 2nd Street in Downtown Davenport, Iowa. Light refreshments will also be served.

Keith Lesmeister lives on a small farm in northeast Iowa. His stories and essays have appeared in Tin House Online, American Short Fiction, Meridian, Redivider, River Teeth, Harpur Palate, Columbia Review, Flyway, and many others. He has stories forthcoming in Gettysburg Review, Slice Magazine, and december. He teaches creative writing at Luther College and Northeast Iowa Community College.
