Dear Teachers/Educators,

We are writing to let you know about a special opportunity available from the Children’s Literature Festival. In October 2017, we welcomed acclaimed children’s authors Bruce Coville and Kelly Milner Halls to be the featured presenters at the Lit Festival. Now you can bring these writers into your classroom at no charge!

Thanks to a grant from the Scott County Regional Authority and the production team at Ford Photography, we have a high quality video recording of both Coville’s and Halls’ featured presentations at the 2017 CLF available to use in classrooms at no charge. These videos are great supplements to in-class reading activities related to these authors’ books, or as an enrichment activity—after all, that’s what the Children’s Literature Festival is every year, and now you can bring the Festival into your classroom!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Contact Ryan Collins at the Midwest Writing Center and let him you you’d like to use the Coville/Halls video for your class or school.
    Email: mwc@midwestwritingcenter.org | Phone: (309) 732-7330
  2. Indicate what format you would like to have the video (thumbnail drive, DVD, digital file, etc.—hard copies of the video will need to be returned to MWC when you are finished using them).
  3. Fill out a brief form indicating that the video will be used for educational purposes (for an individual class, for several classes, for an entire school, etc.), that the video will not be duplicated in any form, and will not be shared or posted publically in any form.
  4. That’s it! We will send you a copy of the video to use and enjoy with your students.

If you have any questions the video and sharing it in your class/at your school, please contact Ryan Collins at MWC. We are also happy to visit classes and talk about the importance of reading and writing, to do writing activities and games, or for other related purposes.

We look forward to hearing from you and sharing this inspiring and educational video with you. Thank you for your time and for all the work you do for your students!
