MWC Announces the Winner of the 2021 Great River Writer’s Retreat

Congratulations to this year’s winner of the Great River Writer’s Retreat, Jeffery Wolf of Chicago, IL!

Wolf was a recent finalist for the Third Coast Fiction Prize and the Arkansas International Emerging Writer’s Prize. His stories have appeared or are forthcoming in Gulf StreamdescantJewish Fiction.net and others. He has an MFA from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and teaches English at Columbia College Chicago.

Wolf will be in residence in fall 2022 due to COVID restrictions, spending a week (August 29-Sept 4, 2022) concentrating on his writing at Benet House Retreat Center in Rock Island, IL. He will celebrate his experience in the area and share some of the writing he worked on during the retreat at a reading open to the public following his stay.

The Great River Writers Retreat winner is selected from an applicant pool of writers from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin across multiple genres, and allows the winner to spend a week working on a specific writing project they have underway.

The Great River Writer’s Retreat Contest will open for all writers on January 1, 2022 and close on May 31, 2022. The retreat will be held August 29-Sept 4, 2022. Complete submission information can be found here.
