READ LOCAL – Meg Gillette @ the Bettendorf Public Library, Wed. 2/8, 7pm

Wednesday, February 8
7:00 p.m.
Bettendorf Public Library

A presentation by MEG GILLETTE – THE STORIES WE TELL

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, some of the most important writers in America hailed from the Tri-Cities (Davenport, Moline, Rock Island).  Today, few people know their names. Gillette, Associate Professor of English at Augustana College, will read selections from their writing and talk about how they reinvented the Tri-Cities as one of America’s foremost literary centers.

Gillette’s presentation will be followed by Q&A and book giveaway raffle.

A Bettendorf native, Gillette fondly remember meeting local writers Violet Olsen, Beverly Van Hook, and David R. Collins at her elementary school’s Young Writers Day.

Read Local is a partnership between the Bettendorf Public Library and the Midwest Writing Center in celebration and appreciation of local authors
