Support MWC for Giving Tuesday on 12/3!

We are writing, like so many other nonprofits are, to ask for your support this Giving Tuesday (December 3, which kicks off our year-end giving campaign) by renewing or starting a membership so that we can continue to provide high-quality, low-cost literary programming to our community as we have for going on 45 years.

In 2025, we will continue our traditional programming: both the Collins Writers’ Conference and the Young Emerging Writers Internship will celebrate their 20th anniversaries in 2025, and we’re planning some special events to celebrate. Writers’ Studio (our twice-monthly critique group) will continue as it has for over 50 years, The SPECTRA Reading Series returns in the spring with four events, and we have a number of terrific workshops coming up. We will be publishing an anthology on the theme of “Being Human in the Age of AI” in partnership with Galvin Fine Arts, in addition to two  the Foster-Stahl chapbooks and The Atlas. We also want to bring more writers to the Quad Cities, host more workshops, and continue to grow our partnerships with other organizations throughout the community. And we cannot do that without you.

Giving Tuesday 11/29 Kicks Off MWC’s 2022 Year-End Giving Campaign

I hope this finds you safe and well as we prepare to turn the page on 2022. We’ve been fortunate to have a terrific year at MWC—from our partnership with WVIK to bring our These Interesting Times anthology into podcast form, to welcoming Ross Gay as our Writers’ Conference keynote speaker, it’s been an exciting year of celebrating the power of the written word. As I reflect and look forward, I’ve been thinking about two people very dear to MWC, both important to our history, who also made lasting contributions that will continue into the future—one of them a writer, and one of them an advocate: Richard “Dick” Stahl and Rochelle Murray.

Update: MWC Year-End Giving Match Deadline Extended Until January 15!!

We recently received a $5,000 grant to match all funds received between December 1 through January 15, 2021, so your contribution will go twice as far. Any donation $25 or more will receive a one-year MWC membership or renewal, donations of $50 or more will receive an MWC Press publication of your choice, and all donations up to $300 are eligible for the CARES Act tax deduction on top of the standard deduction for 2020 (for donations made on or before 12/31/20).
