It’s official: we’re over the hill. This year marks our 40th year of providing literary arts programs and education in the Quad Cities, and we want YOU to come out and help us celebrate!
Join us at Bent River Brewing (512 24th St, Rock Island, IL) on the evening of Thursday, September 19. Starting at 7 p.m., the evening’s festivities will include feature reader Matt Hart with a supporting cast of regional writers, including Skylar Alexander, Sarah Elgatian, and Ryan Collins.
Following our feature readings, we’ll be hosting an open mic, so please bring your stories, poems, or other musings and MWC-related material to share (we ask readers to limit performances to 3-5 minutes each, please). We’ll be equally thrilled to receive your love letters and roasts, so long as they’re about us (it’s our day, after all).
What else? We’re having a pot luck! Please bring a dish to share (a cash bar will be available as well).
Don’t go home empty-handed. We’ll also be hosting blind date with a book. You can take one home for just $5.
Birthday gifts will be accepted in the form of monetary donations to the Midwest Writing Center; “old fart” birthday cards are optional.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. We’ll be wrapping up our official party by 9 p.m. (like we said, we’re not spring chickens anymore), so stop by early to get your celebration on. We’ll leave planning the after party to you.
We sincerely hope you can make it!
Love, MWC
