Bio:

discov the bodyt _ COVERMary Howard began her writing life as the author of short stories that appeared in magazines such as The Georgia Review, The Ontario Review, and Ms.. She lives in Ames, Iowa, where she advised art and design students in The College of Design at Iowa State University for seventeen years, which inspired her to write novels with visual artists as main characters. Two of them have been published, Discovering the Body by HarperCollins and The Girl with Wings by Culicidae Press.

Her current work-in-progress is the story of a young dancer who at the age of six saw her beloved, and deceased, Grandpa Henry in a scary fever dream. She absolutely believed he had really been there to save her life, and in her twenties has not lost her openness to ghostly visitations in her dreams. Mary’s goal for the Great River Retreat is to bring humor into that manuscript while completing one more chapter of this latest suspense novel.
