What: Book Binding Workshop, led by Andrea Jacobs
Where: MWC (ground floor of the Rock Island Public Library, 401 19th St., Rock Island, IL 61201) or online via Zoom

Cost: $20 for MWC Members, $30 for non-MWC Members ($5 additional charge if you would like to pick up supplies at MWC)

In this 3.5 hour workshop, students will learn to make their own professional-quality books to use as journals or to bind one-of-a-kind literary pieces. Students of this workshop will learn a binding technique called Case-Bound Coptic-Stitch and will have a completed book by the end of the workshop.
Jacobs will walk students through binding step-by-step and will be on-hand to answer any questions and troubleshoot. Supplies included for an additional fee of $5 for pick up.

Andrea Jacobs, a Guatemalan immigrant to the US, studied writing at Saint Ambrose University where she specialized in Book Arts. Jacobs has been bookbinding since 2018 and has published one Spanish-language book of poetry.
