The Young Emerging Writers Celebrate the Release of THE ATLAS Literary Magazine at a Two-Part Event 8/17
The Young Emerging Writers (YEW) Summer Internship Program will host a two-part launch party for the latest issue of the Program’s literary magazine THE ATLAS on Thursday, August 17th in downtown Rock Island.
The event will start at 5:00 p.m. (doors at 4:30 p.m.), with a Family and Friends Reception at the Rock Island Public Library Community Room, where YEW interns will give a brief reading of their work. Then, at 8:00 p.m. (doors at 7:00 p.m.), the party will move down the street to Rozz-Tox, where the YEW interns, and maybe some special guests, will read different selections from the magazine, giving audiences an opportunity to hear more work from the magazine brought to life in a different venue.
MWC Welcomes Award-Winning Writers Ben Miller and Anne Pierson Wiese for Two-Day Mini-Residency, July 27 – 28
The Midwest Writing Center is thrilled to welcome award-winning writers Ben Miller and Anne Pierson Wiese for an exciting two-day mini-residency, July 27 – 28.
First, MWC will host a Community Conversation Brown Bag event at noon on July 27 at the Rock Island Public Library Downtown Branch.
Then, later that night, they will read at the SPECTRA Reading Series at Rozz-Tox, with Great River Writers Retreat winner Dee Robb and interns & staff from this year’s Young Emerging Writers Program.
Finally, MWC is extending a special invitation to attend a Legacy Luncheon at the Holiday Inn in Rock Island on Friday, July 28 at noon.
